The Loss
Why is capturing the love so important?
Last year was tough on everyone around the world, but 2020 was tough for us for a whole different reason. It was the year we lost five of our senior fur babies.
Something that was just too difficult for me to post about last year. But as we near the first anniversary of our first loss, it felt timely to talk about that loss.
On the 28th February, 2020, we had the heart breaking duty of putting our beautiful eldest girl Ivy to sleep at the age of 15 years.
Ivy’s health had started to decline, succumbing to the lymphoma she had been courageously fighting for the previous 14 months.
Ivy always lived life to the fullest, a confident, very, very smart, brave girl that loved adventures, hunting with her dad and being the best mum to her seven babies.
As life slowed down for Ivy she loved to sit outside and watch the world go by and have lots of cuddles, whilst planting an array of licky kisses on you.
Ivy enjoyed one last successful bunny hunt with her Dad on her last morning, followed by a hearty meal of KFC. Before we let our beautiful girl go to sleep peacefully as we both held her.
Ivy lived to see past her 15th birthday and saw her five remaining babies at that time, turn 14 years.
Ivy was reunited with her boy Wylie, her two sons Floyd and Little Jack, and Phoebe. We still miss her presence everyday.
Capture The Memories
Being a pet photographer you’d think I would be taking pictures of my own fur babies all the time. Well, losing as many as we did last year was a timely reminder even for me.
Sometimes you just don’t capture enough of those memories.
With Ivy being sick, knowing we were on borrowed time, we made the effort to get out and take photos of her. With some of our others, their loss was so unexpected and sudden, that we didn’t have the opportunity to capture more recent memories.
So capture the love, the fun, the adventure, the spirit and those memories while you can.
